Visitors will be able to get a ring side seat to see William the Conqueror defeat King Harold in the famous battle of 1066 and witness the last pitched battle of the War of the Roses. They can experience a replica of a World War I trench and feel the ground shake as the Roman Army march past. Especially for young festival-goers there is hands-on fun at the dedicated Family Zone - from have-a-go theatre and story telling, to stilt-walking Victorian policemen and cannon-ball juggling pirates! If all the action gets too much, visitors can relax on the Victorian Beach, take in a talk at the Festival of Historical Writing or browse the historic market place for gifts and treasures.
