Name:  The Comedy Shop
Description:  A FREE WORKSHOP for anyone who thinks they're funny! Would you like to be the next Frank Skinner, Jack Dee or maybe you're more a Roy Chubby Brown? Or do you fancy being the next Meera Syal and write hit comedy shows? Well, you could be. Come to our ten week programme of comedy workshops run by a professional stand up comedian. Get the opportunity to go and see live stand-up and, if you're up for it, do a set at the end of the course with other professional comics from the London circuit. It's all free. All you have to be is aged between 16 and 25 years of age and be able to attend the workshops every Monday from 6pm to 8.30pm. We're just across the road from the magistrates court and council offices on London Road in Kettering.
The workshops have been set up by the charity VAN - Volunteer Action Northamptonshire whose aim is to empower young people to realise their potential and encourage them to own their future so they can dynamically affect their lives. This is done using a 3 stage process. We engage young people through workshops to give them something to do that appeals to them, we recruit young people to participate in projects and mentor more young people to lead in the creation of these projects and workshops.
We also support other charities by arranging volunteering placements for young people seeking voluntary activity.
