It's a sight not easily forgotten once you've seen it - and these next few weeks are the ideal time to see the red kite's antics in the Rockingham Forest.
The male and female red kites fly at one another and try to lock their talons together. If they're successful, they'll spin round and round until almost at ground level before they let go.
This pair, together with another two, were spotted this afternoon (April 8th) on the edge of the Rockingham Forest. Unfortunately they always seem to choose the most inaccessible places, hence this single picture. Hopefully we'll post some better ones in the coming weeks.
