| Cllr Betty Wade, Corby's Mayor got this years ASCAR events off to a start when she gave the instruction 'gentlemen start your engines' at the beging of the first race of the season. 20 cars were scheduled for the race - more than last year and roughly half the number that are eventually destined to compete round the oval circuit. | |||

| No, they're not real lights!! Everything that's unnecessary is removed from the cars - and that includes the lights! The great thing about Rockingham is the ease with which spectators can get up close to the cars in the Paddock area. | |||

| One thing that IS necessary for ASCARS is sponsorship - very much in evidence on all the vehicles taking part! The driver here is John Mickle - a firm favourite with the crowds, although he didn't have much luck in the races today. | |||

| The whole of the circuit is in view from the stands at Rockingham - so there's no chance of loosing interest in what's going on! These small F1 replica's took part in the C4 Renault race. | |||

| After the legends race finished, the second ASCAR race got underway. There's no starting grid - the cars do several laps of the cicuit behind the pace car to build up speed, before the race gets off to a rolling start. No.8 is Nicholas Minassian, the French driver who had a convincing victory and was in the lead for most of race 2. | |||

| No.12 is mark Proctor's ASCAR Taurus . The second race was held up after Tom Guinchard in No.58 had to be removed from the track following a spin. Were you in the stand? | |||
