Set high on a hill in the centre of Earls Barton, All Saints Church is notable for it's fine Saxon tower - almost unequalled architecturally throughout the UK. The church is noted in many text books on Saxon architecture. There is much fine stained glass within the church.

HARRINGWORTH VIADUCT

HARRINGWORTH VIADUCT NORTHANTS

An impressive structure of 82 arches stretching for 3/4 mile across the western side of the village. It was constructed between 1874 and 1879 in blue and red brick to carry the London & Midland Railway. Each arch is 40ft in width.

ref kites in rockingham forest northantsThe eagle-like Red Kite was extinct in Britain by the end of the 19th century. Now, thanks to work by the RSPB and English Nature, it is being slowly re-introduced. In Rockingham Forest there are now around 70 birds and 40 breeding pairs. The Red Kite Visitor Centre, has live video feeds from nests in the forest. Guided walks are also arranged.

Stanford Hall is a beautiful William & Mary (1690's) house standing on the banks of Shakespeare's River Avon. The house contains antique furniture, fine pictures (including the Stuart Collection) and an unusual collection of family costumes. In the grounds there is a Nature Trail, Walled Rose Garden and a Pottery and Craft Centre (most Sundays). The stables Block houses a Motorcycle Museum, Tearooms and full size replica of Percy Pilcher's 1898 flying machine.
