11/07/2012 HONE YOUR DRIVING SKILLS ON THE PORSCHE TEST TRACK | |||

| People are being invited to take part on a course which has been organised by Northamptonshire County Council to improve their driving skills. The Car Kraft course takes place at the Porsche test track which is based at the Silverstone Circuit on Sunday, August 12. Car Kraft is open to people aged 15 and above with participants split into four different groups based upon age and driving experience. Cllr Andre Gonzalez De Savage, county council cabinet member for infrastructure and public protection said: “I’m delighted that we are able to offer these courses as it is very important that we all have the skills which are essential to drive safely. “Even with the greatly reduced budget which we have at our disposal we are committed to improving road safety and I believe courses such as these can play a major part in this.” The Bronze group session is for 15 and 16-year-olds and gives the chance for young people to have their first driving lesson as well as take part in a workshop about starting to drive. The other groups are for people aged over 17 and will allow them to test their skills in challenging scenarios before being assessed by police advanced drivers. They are divided into Silver for 17 to 24-year-olds; Gold for 25 to 50-year-olds and Platinum for those who are aged 51 and over. The cost of the course has been discounted by £20.12 to commemorate the Olympic year, making it £78.88 instead of the usual £99. The session follows the success of the CarKraft course which was held last year at Silverstone.
