PLANS MOVE FORWARD FOR CORBY LINK ROAD
|Plans for the A43 Corby Link Road will be discussed by Northamptonshire County Council’s cabinet next week.|
If the cabinet approves the report the next stage will be to make an application to government for full approval, prior to the appointment of a contractor to undertake the works.
It is anticipated that work will start on site in June this year with the road opening to traffic in summer 2014.
County council cabinet member for infrastructure and public protection, Cllr Andre Gonzalez De Savage said: “The A43 Corby Link Road is a major highway scheme that has been developed over many years by the county council and remains a high priority with the aim of improving transport links between Corby and the A14.
“It will also help to facilitate economic and population growth in the north of the county, in and around Corby and will relieve the A43 at Geddington of through traffic.”
The A43 Corby Link Road will involve the construction of 6.5km of dual carriageway, between the A6003, just south of Barford Bridge and the Stanion roundabout at the junction of the A43 / A6116 to the south east of Corby.
