10/08/2010 NORTHAMPTONSHIRE ACADEMIES GET GOVERNMENT FUNDING
	Following the Government’s review of all capital projects three academies in Northamptonshire have received approval to proceed. Kettering Buccleuch Academy, Kettering Science Academy and the Malcolm Arnold Academy in Northampton have all now been advised they will receive the funding to carry out the building work that is part of transition to academy status. Cllr Andrew Grant, county council cabinet member for children and young people, said: “This is great news. This money is absolutely essential for the building works to take place at these academies and now we can start to see the work taking shape. “The academy programme is important to us as one of a raft of measures in place to improve standards of education in the county. “The accompanying building programmes will have far-reaching benefits for the students they teach and the local communities they serve.” Northamptonshire County Council has selected Willmott Dixon Construction as the preferred bidder for its academies building programme in Kettering. The £55 million building programme will see the design and construction of the town’s two new academies, Kettering Science Academy which is sponsored by Brooke Weston Academy Trust and Kettering Buccleuch Academy which is sponsored by United Learning Trust.
