26/04/2008 Wildlife Training Workshop - Pond Dipping for Dragonfly Larvae | ||
|---|---|---|
| Sunday 27 April 2008, Flitton Moor Do you want to develop your skills by learning about what special wildlife you have right on your doorstep, but don’t know where to start? How about attending our Pond Dipping for Dragonfly Larvae workshop at Flitton Moor, just outside the village of Flitton, off the A507 outside Ampthill, Bedfordshire. Wildlife Training Workshops are run by experienced local naturalists who give guidance on how to learn, provide comprehensive booklists, information on ecology and conservation and point people in the right direction, should they wish to progress their skills further. This particular workshop will give participants the opportunity to explore the ponds of Flitton Moor looking for larvae of dragonflies and damselflies. There will also be a chance to examine the larvae in more detail using a microscope. In conjunction with the Wildlife Training Workshops, The Wildlife Trust also welcomes you to join one of the local Ecology Groups, which support over 250 volunteers, using the diverse flora and fauna of Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire as a teaching resource. Ecology Groups use their new skills to carry out local monitoring projects at some of the best and most valuable wildlife sites in the area. Information generated from the groups is then used to influence important future management decisions to ensure that the most valuable wildlife sites are preserved and enhanced. If you would like to book onto the workshop or require any further information on the Wildlife Training Workshops Programme, please contact Juliette Butler, Wildlife Training Workshops Officer, on 01604 405285 or visit our website www.wildlifebcnp.org. | ||
