MAJOR SURVEY ON LIFE IN NORTHAMPTONSHIRE

A survey to find out what residents in Northamptonshire think about life in their local area is being launched this week

12,000 questionnaires are being sent to a selection of residents randomly identified from 26 February 2008. The aim of the survey is to get views from residents living in those areas of the county most in need of extra help and better services.

The eight-page document asks for residents’ views on issues such as quality of life, crime and anti-social behaviour, health and how public services are delivered. The results will be used in the future to help focus resources on the areas identified which have been highlighted as a priority by residents.

The survey is being carried out in selected areas by Northamptonshire County Council in partnership with organisations involved in the Local Area Agreement (LAA) including Northamptonshire Police and district and borough councils. It builds on partnership work being carried out to achieve neighbourhood renewal through neighbourhood management approaches.
Councillor Liz Tavener, county council cabinet member for community safety said: “We are looking forward to finding out what local residents think about life in parts of Northamptonshire. I would ask anyone who receives a survey to fill it in – it shouldn’t take much more than 15 minutes out of your day but will help us identify what’s working well and what areas need to be focused on.”

This project is being carried out on behalf of the county council by an independent company called Marketing Means. All responses will be treated as strictly confidential and residents will not be identified in any way in the results of the survey.

All surveys should be returned by 30 March 2008. Anyone who has any concerns or questions about the questionnaire can contact Marketing Means on freephone 0800 849 4019.
